LOVING SIPSEY

Valley partners with Coker United Methodist Church through Loving Sipsey in an attempt to meet the needs of our community. Find more about Loving Sipsey, including times for upcoming events, on the Loving Sipsey Facebook page.

Love INC West
Monthly Distribution Nights and Classes
Times TBD

Love INC is about providing a hand up and not just a handout. Although there is a time and place for providing handouts, Love INC is not a crisis intervention or disaster relief ministry. Love INC’s primary focus is helping the church transform people’s lives (physically and spiritually) so they can break the dependency cycle they are in. We seek to engage and hold accountable people receiving help, and work with them to strengthen the assets they have and develop new ones that allow them to break the cycle of poverty and dependency they find themselves in. We call this developmental compassion (as opposed to the traditional charity compassion so prevalent in our society today.) Learn more at https://loveinctuscaloosa.com/

LOCATION
The entrance is on the south side of the Valley Kids Center of Valley Community Church. If you are facing the church from Romulus Road, that’s on the right side nearest to Louise Drive. It is very literally the Upper Room of the church. Guests may go up the exterior stairs to enter the Upper Room.

DONATE
Community members may donate clothes by taking them to Love INC of Tuscaloosa County at 238 McFarland Blvd. in Northport.

COMMUNITY FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Typically the 3rd Friday of each month
Around 9:00 am – 10:00 am

In cooperation with the West Alabama Food Bank, Loving Sipsey distributes boxes of food to the community once a month from the Hope Center across the street from Coker UMC. This typically takes place on the 3rd Friday of each month, but does vary on occasion. The truck usually arrives around 8:30-9:00 am, and once it is unloaded, distribution begins as quickly as possible. These events are first-come, first-served and continue until we run out of food. For exact dates, please see the Loving Sipsey Facebook page.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Valley Church strives to be active in and support Coker’s local schools whenever possible. We feed the Sipsey High School football team and band each season. We work with Buhl Elementary to provide snacks and meals to children in need, greet children as they arrive at school each week, and participate in the school’s mentoring program.

Valley Church strives to be good stewards of our facilities by opening its doors, facilities, and fields to the community. We are proud to support Sipsey Valley Youth Athletics by hosting cheer & football practices in the fall and softball practices in the spring. If you are interested in using Valley’s facilities please fill out the online facility request form.

SERVING THE WORLD

As followers of Jesus, we have a mission to “make disciples of all nations.” In obedience of that, we take seriously the commission of taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Each year, Valley intentionally seeks ways to fulfill our calling.

MISSION TRIPS
Recently, we have partnered with Filter of Hope on trips to Haiti in 2017, Cuba in 2018 and 2019, and Costa Rica in 2021 and 2022.

SUPORTING OUR MISSIONARIES
We are proud to have one of our member families serving as missionaries to Senegal in West Africa. We are blessed to be able to support the Perdues through prayer and financial aid.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We participate annually in Operation Christmas Child. Each November, we pack and collect shoeboxes to send around world as individual Gospel opportunities. Our church also serves as a drop-off location for other churches and individuals throughout the area to bring their shoeboxes for processing.
